this is/was a serious question,i have constantly been amazed at the number of people that use this and have always wondered why....it's time to get mean and start naming names...curious minds want to know

Buster I think it is because they don't want to be caught looking at certain threads or certain user profiles. If you view there profiles you cannot find out what thread they are viewing if they are in invisible mode. My guess.
